What we do

Hi, my name is Naoko and I am from Japan. I have been living in Ireland and Scotland Edinburgh for the last decade.

As you may be aware, on 11th of March 2011 a significant earthquake and resulting tsunami has devastated my country. I was lost, and felt so powerless here in Scotland so far away from home. I wanted to do something, anything, for those people who lost everything.

This is when our amigurumi project was formed.

I always enjoyed crocheting little animals and giving them away to friends and their young ones. Then I thought, if my crochet animals can make children in Scotland smile, I could do something with them.

Since then, 2 of my friends, Hanae and Satomi joined me with the project; and we have been making our original crochet amigurumi to fundraise for children in Japan, who lost their parents.

All amigurumi (crochet animals) are original. It takes approximately 5 hours or more to make each amigurumi depending on its size and details. We do not make any profit from this project and all proceed are donated to charities for Japan. Any expenses incurred (for stuffing materials and eyes etc.) are covered by me or my friends. All yarn are donated from warmhearted people around the Scotland.

This is who we are, and we would be grateful if you could adopt our amigurumi into your home to support our effort to bring some hope to those who lost everything by the quake.

Please visit to "How to adopt amigurumi" and also "Our amigurumi friends" pages, where you can find all amigurumi we have created so far, and many more to come.

We are continuously adding new faces, so please do come back to our blog time to time!
